I hated sports at school, actually that's a lie... I was just really bad at it.I was not only the last one to be picked, but was then met with "oh but sir, do we HAVE to have him?" as I meandered uncommitted to the team I was allocated. This was not only demoralising but it reinforced self doubt and obviously my under achievement continued. It wasn't until I was in my twenties I joined a gym and started to see a change, an improvement in my own self.Twenty years later as a qualified personal trainer it feels good to sit with a client and relate when they say they have little confidence, when they say they are no good at anything fitness related. I teach them all the same principle, you are your only competition, if you are a little bit closer than a week, month or year ago to your goal then you are winning and that is all that counts
